The Legendary Manchester Busker was the name given to a series of small theatre shows promoted by CC/Brickwall around Greater Manchester. The format comprised of as many acts as possible, all playing for free, crammed into a rollercoaster line-up, each capturing through original music, comedy and performance, the spirit of the 'Manchester Busker'. There were originally 14 Manchester Busker shows in total. The first one was 17th April 1988 at The Green Room, Manchester, and the last one (prior to a re-launch in 2007) was 16th June 1996 at Castlefield Arena, Manchester, the night after the (IRA) bomb went off. It was pretty legendary in it's own rights back in the day, however the relevance of the show has become of particular interest as we look back at the history, and see with great intrigue how the lives and careers of those 'busking' pioneers have progressed. Furthermore, we share tributes to Bryan Glancy, Hovis Presley, Ian Stanton and Linda Smith, sadly are no longer with us. |
