History - Interview with Will (The Sandalwoods)

"I dont play anymore-got a hire company that rents out retro guitars,fx & amps if you know any-one who needs to hire an old piece of gear, let me know!"www.retrosoundshire.com

Do you remember how many Manchester Busker events you took part in, or attended?

Physically? Many

Do you have a particular lasting memories of any McrBskr occasions?

The Chris Coupe BT phone bill benefit at The Green Room we all played at :-3 separate stages-The Salford Jets,us (The Sandalwoods),Bryan Glancy et al-he spent 18 hours of the next day thanking all the artistes----and of course got the bill back up!

What do you think made McrBskr so special?

Seeing how many times you’d be asked “Could I borrow you acoustic? I’m in standard tuning?!”  No, the diversity and comradery - naïve but good times.

A considerable number of the original performers have gone on to form successful creative careers, and in some cases have gone to the top echelons of their profession. Any comments?

I do think it wouldn't have hurt for a couple of ‘em to have name-checked Chris but hey, maybe they have? Some of them should have gone further:-Asia Fields blew us off the stage at The Boardwalk once, flares an’ wah pedals way before the Roses.

Describe Chris Coupe in a sentence:

Passionate, brave, daft with an unwholesome dark interest in football still.

Any other things to say?

It was great doing all those gigs with our fantastic beautiful Mr Glancy - who played at more gigs than there actually was. Possibly.
